What is Interleaving Paper?

Metallic materials with smooth and beautiful surfaces are all around us. The typical metal is stainless steel. Stainless steels are manufactured through coiling or rolling processes. During these processes, protective paper sheets are embedded between the stainless steel sheets in order to prevent any damage. These protective paper sheets are called “interleaving paper”.

The Characteristics of Our Interleaving Paper

The surface of the interleaving paper must be very smooth since it comes into direct contact with the metallic products. Even slight wrinkles or minor contamination can damage the metals, resulting in harmful effects in the processes that follow.

  1. 1) Our interleaving paper is flat and strong since it is kept at neutral pH.
  2. 2) The amount of chlorine and sulfate ions is extremely low.
  3. 3) Contaminating materials harmful to metals are kept strictly away.

Rewind, Slit, Connect

Three basic technologies for interleaving paper.

Rewind

Skills gained through long experience are vital for controlling paper and are required to rewind it without any wrinkles.
Basic skills like the rewinding process are absolutely necessary.

Slit

Slitting the paper also requires experience and skill. We are always striving for the sharpest slit to ensure the finest quality. The slitting machine is called the slitter.

Connect

We proudly introduce the process for connecting the paper together. Our skill makes it possible to connect the paper together without losing any of the necessary qualities of interleaving paper.

Our Innovations

“Web” and “Web Handling”

Long and flexible materials, such as paper, films, metallic thin films, and thin sheet metals, have been called “webs”. They are now used as basic materials in electric devices, automotive devices, and so on. The word “web” was coined from the notion of the spider web and implies the condition of intricately entangled fibers.

Web requires careful handling due to its thin and fragile fibers. This web handling is one of the most important technologies in the field of industrial materials. With our experience and skill in the slitting, rewinding, and connecting processes, we will always be invaluable for the “web” and “web handling” of the new film and metallic foil materials.

Our Research

Films

We developed the heat adhesion process for HDPE films (up to a thickness of 10 μm) to protect coated coils in the copper forming industry. Now these films are reusable. We can prepare any requested length of film.

Metallic Foils

We are investigating the handling of aluminum and copper foils with a thickness up to 10 μm.
